Rule I: e1, e-insertion


 I.Abbreviation:e1
 
Description: e-insertion for verbs, whose verb primitive ends on "d" or "t"
 
Example verb: 4. reden (weak verb)
braten (briet, gebraten) (strong verb)
 
Application: - the verb primitive ends on "d" or "t"
- all verb extensions that start with a consonant, receive an additional "e" in order to avoid building of double consonants (e.g. "du redest", not "du redst" or "ihr redet", not "ihr redt").

  Applies for (weak verbs):
Präsens:Singular II, Singular III, Plural II
Präteritum: all forms
Konj II (Prät): all forms
Imperativ: Singular II, Plural II
Partizip: always
 
  Applies for (strong verbs):
Präsens:Singular II, Singular III, Plural II
Präteritum: -
Konj II (Prät): -
Imperativ: Singular II, Plural II
Partizip: -
 
  Example:
Präteritum: weak "reden" => "du redetest", not "du redtest"
Präsens: strong "braten" => "du brietest", not "du brietst"
